New Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide RR Vs CVO Road Glide ST: 3 Biggest Differences

Sending shockwaves in the touring world, Harley-Davidson has taken the wraps off the CVO Road Glide RR. It serves as the wildest bagger out of Milwaukee, making the already-impressive CVO Road Glide ST seem vanilla in comparison. That is thanks to an array of differences all around, but they can be clubbed into three main categories. Let’s dive in.

The CVO Road Glide RR Has Way More Power Than The CVO Road Glide ST

This is perhaps what will matter most for laypeople like us. The RR is powered by the 2,147cc Screamin’ Eagle 131 V-twin engine that churns out a whopping 153 horsepower and 150 pound-feet. That is 26 ponies more than the Milwaukee-Eight 121 High Output engine from the ST. There’s a lot that contributes to the bump in performance, such as:

  • Stage IV ported cylinders
  • High-performance SE8-550 Camshaft
  • Race-inspired intake
  • New billet clutch basket
  • Screamin’ Eagle Racing King 6 transmission
  • Akrapovic exhaust

The CVO Road Glide RR Has More Premium Suspension And Brakes Than The CVO Road Glide ST

The CVO Road Glide ST debuted last year and immediately took over as a highly sought-after bagger, thanks to its premium suspension. It has Showa USD forks and shock absorbers, both with adjustability. This is topped with a braking setup from Brembo and lightweight alloy wheels. But the RR takes things to a next level. Harley-Davidson has given it fully adjustable 43 mm Ohlins FGR 523 Hypersport forks and Screamin’ Eagle Ohlins shock absorbers.

To elevate things further, the braking package here comprises Brembo GP4-RX CNC front calipers and T-drive disc brakes. H-D claims these work together to provide braking performance comparable to MotoGP bikes. Bold claim, we know, but the RR is based on the King Of The Bagger race bike, so you better believe it. A special mention also goes to the billet aluminum swingarm that’s bespoke to the RR.

The CVO Road Glide ST Costs Half As Much As The CVO Road Glide RR

The above-mentioned bits are partnered with other nitty-gritty bits such as sportier ergos, better electronics, and carbon fiber bodywork. All these, along with the uber-limited 131 production figure, make the RR a super special creation by Harley-Davidson. So the bikemaker has priced it in a similar fashion. The MSRP is set at a whopping $110,000, which means you can buy two CVO Road Glide STs and still have enough money for a Low Rider S. But hey, if you can afford the RR, it’s arguably the ultimate Harley-Davidson bagger we’ll get for some time.
