2025 KTM 390 Adventure R: Key Things To Know
If you’ve loved the 390 Adventure, we have some good news for you. The popular entry-level adventure bike has become more capable than ever, thanks to an army of updates all around. These range from a new engine, updated electronics, and more off-road capable underpinnings. Without further ado, here are the key things you should know.
A New 399cc, Single-Cylinder Engine

The updated 390 Adventure employs the new 399cc, single-cylinder engine that debuted on the 390 Duke. It has more capacity than the 373cc mill that helps produce 44 horsepower and 28.7 pound-feet via a six-speed transmission. This is the same as the 390 Duke and that’s not a bad thing. Why? Because the power figures are higher than its two arch-rivals: the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the CFMoto Ibex 450. Sounds like a win!

Quality Underpinnings, Regardless Of The Variant

Unlike before, you can have two variants: 390 Adventure X and 390 Adventure R. The X is the road-friendly base model, evident from the 19/17-inch cast aluminum alloy wheels. Likewise, the WP Apex forks and monoshock have 7.87 inches of travel.
The 390 R is the one for off-road enthusiasts. There are 21/18-inch spoke wheels, wrapped in knobby tires. WP Apex suspension offering over 9 inches of travel at each end rounds off the package. In a similar fashion, the X is devoid of modern-day features, such as a TFT, ride modes, traction control, and cornering ABS.
