5 Small Adventure Bikes You Should Buy In 2025

If you’re in the market for a versatile motorcycle, an adventure bike is your best bet. They promise to get you across countries over various terrains without any hiccups. That’s a prime reason why this category has become uber popular today, and if you’re looking to start your ADV journey, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Luckily, we’re here to make your life easier with this list of five small adventure bikes you should buy in 2025.

Honda NX500

The CB500X served as an excellent sub-500cc adventure bike for several years. Then, things got better recently as the CB became the NX500. With the name change came a set of notable updates, particularly to the technology suite. A TFT sits as the centerpiece of the cockpit, armed with smartphone connectivity and a couple of view modes. All-LED lights, dual-channel ABS, and USB charging also come standard. Under the skin is Honda’s trustworthy 471cc, parallel-twin engine, with just under 50 horsepower and 35 pound-feet.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450

This is perhaps the most capable budget adventure bike you can get. You get all the niceties you’ll ever need: a TFT instrument cluster with Google Maps mirroring, switchable ABS, ride modes, and spoke wheels. This is topped by RE’s first-ever liquid-cooled engine that produces a respectable 39.5 horsepower. All that comes for an uber-aggressive price of under $6,000.

KTM 390 Adventure X

Revamped for 2025, the 390 Adventure now has an X variant. It boasts 19/17-inch alloy wheels, complete with dual-purpose tires perfect for all kinds of terrain. Power comes from KTM’s new 399cc, single-cylinder engine that pumps out over 44 horsepower. WP Apex suspension and all the necessary features ensure you get an all-out modern-day package elsewhere, too.

CFMoto 450 MT

You might not like CFMoto’s Chinese origins, but no one can deny the brand’s bikes have serious potential on paper. The 450 MT is one such example, armed with a 449cc, parallel-twin engine. This is good for about 45 horsepower, which is ample for serious fun on rough terrain. When on such tarmac (or no tarmac), you’ll also appreciate the 21-inch front wheel, long-travel suspension, and ample ground clearance.

Kawasaki KLR650

The KLR650 is arguably the most unconventional adventure bike here. After all, it’s essentially meant to be a dual-sport with large fairings. But if you’re into adventure-ing, the KLR650 is arguably the most reliable option. That’s because the 649cc single-cyliner engine here is literally bulletproof. Plus, the platform has been around for decades, so you’ll find fixes for its flaws effortlessly. Oh, and don’t be scared by the ‘650’, this ADV produces just as much power as all others on the list.
