Indian Chieftain PowerPlus Vs Harley-Davidson Street Glide: Specs Compared

If you’re a touring bike fan, you must be in candy land right now. Indian has just taken the wraps off its new Chieftain PowerPlus, while Harley-Davidson has just made its Street Glide sexier for 2025. This can, however, leave you scratching your head when you actually think about picking a favorite. Lucky for you, GoodbikeBadbike wants to make your life easier and that’s why we’ve readied a short and sweet specs comparison. Let’s see how Indian Chieftain PowerPlus vs Harley-Davidson Street Glide goes.

Indian Chieftain PowerPlus Vs Harley-Davidson Street Glide: Engine And Performance

Harley-Davidson’s rival has whipped up an all-new engine for the new Chieftain. It draws heavy inspiration from Indian’s King Of The Baggers race bike to promise liquid cooling, a high compression ratio, and a higher-than-normal redline. This ensures an output of 126 horsepower and 133 pound-feet of torque via a six-speed transmission. Not just the highest for an Indian bike, but also considerably more than the H-D Street Glide’s 105 horsepower. While we don’t judge a book by its cover, we can’t deny that 21 horsepower is a huge advantage.

Like the engine, the Indian again makes the Street Glide seem vanilla. The Chieftain comes armed with upside-down forks and a monoshock, while the H-D is simpler with telescopic forks and dual rear shocks. Likewise, you get dual semi-floating Brembo calipers on the Indian, whereas the H-D has axially mounted calipers. The final punch is the dimensions. Indian’s tourer is lighter and has a lower saddle height than its Harley-Davidson rival. It’s not all hunky dory, though, as the Street Glide has the tighter wheelbase here.

Let’s face it: everyone wants to save some hard-earned moolah and get the most for their money. These are both things the Indian Chieftain PowerPlus does well. It starts from $26,499 for the 108ci version and $27,499 for the 112ci engine. Both MSRPs are lower than the Street Glide’s new-for-2025 $27,749 starting price. Adding fancy colors to either bike bumps the price, but again, Harley-Davidson charges way more than Indian here. So the new Indian is undeniably the more VFM buy here!
